Portpatrick
Portpatrick is a picturesque fishing village with multi-coloured houses along it's sea front. In the village we have several pubs and restaurants, a post office and a variety of gift shops, such as the Lighthouse Pottery, Smugglers Cove and Port Pantry.
The RNLI also have a gift shop in Portpatrick and you can watch the lifeboat crew training in Portpatrick harbour 7pm Thursdays in the summer and 1:30pm Sundays in the winter.
People come to Portpatrick for a variety of reasons but mostly to enjoy the scenery. The Southern Upland Way starts in Portpatrick so it attracts a lot of walkers. For golfers we have the Dunskey Course for the more experienced or the Dinvin Course for holiday makers and families. If you arrive in summer, there is also the putting green in Portpatrick itself. Birdwatchers and wildlife tourists enjoy visiting the area due to the varied habitats in the locality and the short distance to the RSPB's Mull of Galloway reserve. Porpoises and even basking sharks can sometimes be seen offshore and seals are regularly spotted.
